Welcome from the Commodore

I am proud to announce that this year we will be celebrating the clubs 125th anniversary. This is an amazing achievement and something we all can be proud of. I would personally like to thank every member past and present for helping run such a successful sailing club for such a long time.

Over the years Olton Mere has produced some of the highest-ranking UK sailors in the world. From Olympic reserves to World, European, National, Area Champions to Open & Race winners. Which for such a small lake in the midlands this is astonishing.

As we look onto the 2024/2025 season it is shaping up to be another exciting year not only for our own racing but in the travelling scene with several members travelling with their dinghies to other clubs and showing what Olton Mere sailors are made of.

In 2024 we will also see the start of a new series 'The Commodores Cup' which will entail of separate 1hr personal handicap pursuits which will be awarded at the laying up supper at the end of the year.

Even though racing is a big part of what we do at Olton Mere we also have a huge amount of interest in courses throughout the year which will hopefully see new members enjoying themselves on our lake and socially in our bar. So, in advance a big thank you to the team of instructors will be delivering the coaching and courses as this is another thing that has helped our club last the 125 years.

Let's aim to make 2024 the best season yet and look forward to celebrating the 125th anniversary in July.
